GET LIT – This Is Your Heart On Fire! πŸ”₯

Magnify the Light: A Lesson from Physics

Yo, check this out! I recently came across this mind-blowing concept in physics about magnifying glasses and the sun.🌞Have you ever used a magnifying glass on a sunny day? I’m learning that when you position the magnifying glass just right, it can focus the light of the sun onto one single point, and that concentrated light becomes so intense that it can actually set things on fire! It’s wild. The way the lens brings all that energy to one spot makes me think about how we can do the same thing with God’s love.

Set Your Heart Ablaze: God’s Transforming Love

Here’s the thing: the love of God is so powerful, so intense, it has the capacity to completely transform us, to set our hearts ablaze. But just like with the magnifying glass, we have to focus. When we stay in the “sun”—the Son of God—by believing, receiving and resting fully on His love is what burns away everything that’s holding us back. It burns away the lies we’ve believed, the discouragement we feel, the frustration we get stuck in. His love lights us up from the inside out, making us alive again.

The love of God is so powerful, so intense, it has the capacity to completely transform us, to set our hearts ablaze.

The Road to Emmaus: From Discouragement to Fire

Ever felt like those two guys on the road to Emmaus? They were walking, talking about everything that had gone wrong, feeling confused, discouraged, and disillusioned. They were struggling to make sense of everything that had happened—how could the Messiah have died? How could this all have been God’s plan? They didn’t even recognize Jesus walking right alongside them. One of them, Cleopas, asked Jesus, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” (Luke 24:18). Like, man, they were stuck in their negative vibe.😀

But Jesus, in His love, didn’t leave them there. He lovingly brought them out of that negative space. He didn’t condemn them for their confusion. But I feel like he did tease them though, when he said “O fool and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets had spoken." It was almost like He was telling them, "Yo, fam, y’all really out here acting like you didn’t read the plot twist? How slow are you to catch the vibe? This whole thing was predicted, like, from the start. Didn’t y’all check the spoilers?"πŸ“–

Anyway, He explained how everything had to unfold the way it did. He opened their eyes to the truth of the Scriptures, to the truth of who He was, to the purpose behind His death and resurrection (Luke 24:25-27). And when He broke the bread, their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him!πŸ‘€ In that moment, their hearts burned with truth and awe and the warmth of God’s love demonstrated through the sacrifice of Christ. They went from being stuck in discouragement to being fired up with a purpose, understanding the power of His sacrifice and love.

This is what staying in the Son of God’s love does for us. It takes us from confusion to clarity, from darkness to light

This is what staying in the Son of God’s love does for us. It takes us from confusion to clarity, from darkness to light.πŸ’‘It’s like that magnifying glass—if we stay focused on His love, if we fix our gaze on the sacrifice He made for us, it has the power to set our hearts on fire. Just like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, our hearts will burn with passion, with purpose, and with His truth. Jesus is the answer to all the negative vibes we experience in life.

Sunlight vs. Sonlight: No Harmful Side Effects

Now, let’s talk about sunlight for a minute. We’re always talking about how sunlight can be good for our skin—it's the "sun-kissed" glow everyone’s going for. The right amount of sunlight gives us vitamin D, makes us feel better, and can even brighten up our day. But we know that too much of it can cause harm—sunburn, premature aging, and even skin cancer. Yikes!😬

But guess what? There’s no such thing as too much exposure to the Son of God. The more we bask in the warmth of His love, the more we’ll experience the fire of His presence without any harmful side effects. Excessive exposure to sunlight can burn us out, but excessive exposure to Jesus? That’s the kind of fire we need.πŸ”₯His love doesn’t leave scars; it heals us. His light doesn’t burn us out; it powers us up. You see, staying in the Son of God’s love has no negative side effects. It only gets better, stronger, and more alive the more you lean into it.

Excessive exposure to sunlight can burn us out, but excessive exposure to Jesus? That’s the kind of fire we need. His love doesn’t leave scars; it heals us. His light doesn’t burn us out; it powers us up.

John the Beloved: A Heart on Fire

John the Beloved was all about staying close to Jesus. He was the youngest disciple, but he was powerful! He was the one who called himself “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 13:23). He was radical about staying close to Jesus, to focusing on His love.πŸ’–It didn’t matter what society thought of him. He wasn’t worried about being the “youngest” because nothing else mattered as long as he was connected to Jesus. His love for Jesus fueled everything in his life.

John didn’t just hear about Jesus’ love; he believed in it and received it. He practiced it daily, and it transformed him. He knew, believed, and lived out the love of God in a way that impacted everyone around him. And that’s exactly what we’re called to do. God’s love doesn’t just change us when we know about it—it changes us when we believe it and receive it. It’s not just about knowing the truth in our heads; it’s about letting that truth set us on fire.

Know It, Believe It, Live It: Receiving God’s Love

John writes in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John knew what it meant to believe and receive God's love. Later, he writes in 1 John 4:16, “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love. Whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” This is what John was talking about—when we truly know and believe God's love for us, it changes everything.

Get Lit: Stay in the Son

So, what’s the takeaway? If you’re feeling stuck in the negative vibes of life, just like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, know that the answer is always going to be Jesus. Stay in the Son of God’s love. Stay focused on the cross, on His sacrifice, on His relentless love for you.❤️And as you do, you’ll feel your heart come alive, burning with passion and purpose. Nothing else will matter when you’re consumed by His love.

Your heart on fire? That’s what staying in the Son can do. And trust me, that fire is everything. So get lit in the Son! πŸ”₯

Flip The Script On Education: A Reflection In Celebration of the International Day of Education 2025

Image from Freepik Happy International Day of Education!  On today's episode of Flip The Script, we're flipping the script on education, in honour of the International Day of Education and we're doing that by shattering the myth that education only happens in schools and classrooms. I believe in holistic, out-of-school and transformative education that changes us and empowers us to change the world and I believe this is God’s heart for education. Education doesn't only happen in schools and classrooms but in all of daily life, and we should never confine or limit education to that.  My case study today is one of the most inspiring young people I’ve ever learned about: 19-year-old Gitanjali Rao who’s a science enthusiast and an inventor and already invented her first science-b...

What’s Eating You?

Photo source: Stockcake What Are You Eating? What's Eating You? A slow meditation for those who want to be nourished, not just inspired. Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about food —but not just the kind that fills your stomach, but the kind that fills your soul. My dad used to say something I’ll never forget: “You can use good food to cure sicknesses.” It was wisdom passed down—his parents believed it. My mom and her parents too. They all knew the power of nourishment. They believe that if you eat well, your body naturally gets to heal, strengthen, and thrive. They knew this well and they lived by it. And it got me thinking: But what if the same is true for your soul? What if some of the fear, shame, anxiety, or spiritual fatigue you're feeling aren’t just about sin or stress or burnout—but about what we’ve been feeding or not feeding on ? Or what we’ve been starving from ? Or worse… what’s been poisoning us ? I’m learning that you can tell a lot about your spir...

Even Jesus Cooked Too: Meals Are Spiritual Spaces Where Jesus Meets Us

Photo source: ChatGPT Craving a Favorite Meal There’s something deeply satisfying about watching your favorite meal being made. The anticipation builds as you imagine the aroma, the texture, the first bite. I’ve found myself craving a favorite dish so intensely that I traveled a distance just to enjoy it. But that craving—that hunger—is more than just physical. It’s a mirror of something spiritual, something eternal. I think about how Jesus, my Lord and Savior, also cooked. That’s still such a beautiful, humbling thought to me. Even Jesus Cooked Too Did you know that Jesus made breakfast for His disciples after His resurrection? John 21 tells us that when the disciples had gone back to fishing, Jesus stood on the shore. H...
