Reborn Rich: Flip The Script K-Drama Review

Hi there, have you ever watched a show that stirred something spiritual in you? That whispered Gospel truths behind every plot twist? That’s exactly what the K-Drama Reborn Rich did for me.

So just in case you’ve not watched it, here's the gist of Reborn Rich (no spoilers): Yoon Hyun-woo, a loyal and diligent employee of the powerful Soonyang Group, has spent over a decade cleaning up the chaebol family's messes. But just when he thinks he’s earned their trust, he’s betrayed and murdered on a mission abroad. Instead of dying, he wakes up in the body of Jin Do-joon, the youngest grandson of the very family that killed him (Lol. What a sick plot twist, yeah?) Now living in the 1980s, he realizes he’s been reborn into the past (Hello, time travel!), right into the heart of the Soonyang dynasty. Armed with future knowledge and driven by revenge, Hyun-woo (as Do-joon) plans to dismantle the empire from within and take over Soonyang Group to bring the real culprits to justice.

That’s some scary revenge troupe, yeah?

I feel like Reborn Rich is more than a gripping drama about a man who dies serving the rich and wakes up as one of them. It’s a mirror—a cinematic metaphor for the radical love story we’ve been caught up in. It’s a Flip The Script masterpiece of God’s grace.

Excited to learn how?

Like Jin Do-joon, we didn’t strive our way into this new life. We didn’t hustle into sonship. We were simply reborn rich—not into the Soonyang family empire, but into something far greater: the family of God!

Like everyone else in the world, we were originally born into sin (Romans 5:12), unable to choose our condition. But by God’s grace, through simple faith in Jesus’s sacrifice for us on the cross (Ephesians 2:8-9), we’ve been reborn—into righteousness, royalty, and relationship. Just like Do-joon woke up shocked but empowered, you and I have woken up in Christ with a new name, a new nature, and a new narrative.

You’ve been Reborn Rich:

In Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) — You are a new creation in Christ.

In righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21) — You are the righteousness of God in Christ.

In inheritance (Romans 8:17) — You are an heir of God and co-heir with Christ.

In identity and authority (1 John 4:17) — As Jesus is, so are you in this world.

In the Father’s love (John 17:23) — You are loved just as the Father loves Jesus.

And all of this... is unearned. Undeserved. Unmerited. But irrevocably yours to receive by grace, through faith (Ephesians 2:8).

Gospel Metaphors Hidden in K-Drama “Reborn Rich”:

1. From Servant to Son

Yoon Hyun-woo was just a worker cleaning up the mess of the Soonyang family—powerless, voiceless. But as Do-joon, he's not just in the house—he belongs to the legacy.

Gospel Flip: We were once slaves to sin (John 8:34) We weren’t just rescued and forgiven—we were adopted. We are no longer servants, but sons and daughters of God (John 3:35-36, Galatians 4:7).

2. Inherited Victory

Do-joon’s future knowledge gives him an edge. He operates not from fear or lack, but from confidence in what’s to come, not confusion.

Gospel Flip: Because we’re now in Christ, we don’t live or fight for victory—we fight from victory. Christ already won (Colossians 2:15). Now, we live and walk in His finished work.

3. Rewriting the Story

Do-joon’s entire life becomes about flipping the script of the future by changing key moments—redeeming key moments to shift the outcome. It’s like redemption in motion.

Gospel Flip: Christ didn’t just save or redeem your soul; He redeems your story. What the enemy meant for evil, God uses for good (Genesis 50:20).

4. A Better Bloodline

Do-joon’s new lineage means access to influence, power, and legacy—none of which he earned. It was given not by merit, but by identity.

Gospel Flip: By faith in Christ, you’ve been grafted into God’s family, into Christ’s bloodline (Romans 11:17-18). You carry God’s divine DNA now—by grace. You’re royalty!

5. Double Identity Revelation

Do-joon has insider knowledge from his old life and a new identity in his rebirth that gives him power. That’s a dual advantage.

Gospel Flip: We live in two realms—from heaven on earth. Heaven is our home and it’s where we’re seated in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 2:6), yet we walk this earth full of divine purpose, insight and grace.

A Word from Home: You Are Not a Servant

Brother, sister—Christianity is not a rulebook. It’s a reunion. A relationship. A rebirth.

The Father has always wanted a family. That’s why He sent Jesus. Not just to forgive us, but to bring us home. “God chose to bring many children to glory… so now Jesus and the ones He makes holy have the same Father.” (Hebrews 2:10-18, NLT)

You are not a slave in this house. You are family. Not tolerated. Not halfway loved. You are as loved as Jesus is loved. (John 17:23)

God didn’t save you to employ you. He adopted you. And He placed His very Spirit inside you—reminding you every moment that you belong. “You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’” (Romans 8:15)

You Are a Joint-Heir with Christ. You know what that means? Everything Jesus has—you now share. Jesus is your elder Brother who paid for it all—He paid for you to live your best life. And now, the Father holds nothing back.

He doesn’t love you less than Jesus.

He doesn’t give you less than Jesus.

He doesn’t expect you to earn what Jesus already gave.

We reign in life, not by striving, but by receiving—His abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness (Romans 5:17).

Can you imagine that?! How cool is that?

Don’t Get Stuck in Servant Mode

Sometimes, we slip into the old mindset: thinking we have to perform, achieve, or hustle to be accepted by God. But friend, that’s not sonship. That’s a lie.

Here’s the truth: “You ARE (already) accepted in the Beloved (Jesus Christ)” – Ephesians 1:6

The house of God is not a workplace—it’s a home. Full of warmth, love, and grace.
Soak it in. Receive it. Rest in it. Don't let religion rob you of the relationship Jesus died to give.

We didn’t earn our rebirth. We didn’t hustle into sonship. We were Reborn Rich—into God’s family, into Jesus’ finished work, into the inheritance of grace—all by fully trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross. We now get to live from a reality we don’t deserve, but one that defines our destinies.” How cool is that?! This, my friend, is what it means to be Home in Christ. You don’t need to prove anything. Just receive. He already flipped the script for you.

Not yet in the fam?

God is a good Father who loves you so much and wants you to be part of His family as His child. He offered His only Son, Jesus Christ, to pursue your heart and save you and bring you into the family. All you need to do is to receive His love and you can live in it and enjoy it for the rest of your life. Will you receive it? Then please say this prayer:

Father in Heaven, I thank you for loving me. Thank you for sending the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, to save me from my sins and give me eternal life. I believe in my heart that Jesus died for my sins, He was buried and on the third day, He rose again, to make me right with you. I declare that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour. I thank you that I am now saved and I'm a member of your family. I ask that You fill me with the Holy Spirit and help me to know You more. In Jesus' name, amen.

Welcome!

If you said this prayer for the first time, you're now a child of God and I am excited that you are my sibling in Christ. Welcome!!! 🥳There's a whole party going on in Heaven right now, on your behalf, like the excitement over a newborn baby. Will you please reach out to me and let me bless you with a resource that will help you get started on your journey of faith? Click here to do so. I love you and can't wait to meet you.

Flip The Script On Education: A Reflection In Celebration of the International Day of Education 2025

Image from Freepik Happy International Day of Education!  On today's episode of Flip The Script, we're flipping the script on education, in honour of the International Day of Education and we're doing that by shattering the myth that education only happens in schools and classrooms. I believe in holistic, out-of-school and transformative education that changes us and empowers us to change the world and I believe this is God’s heart for education. Education doesn't only happen in schools and classrooms but in all of daily life, and we should never confine or limit education to that.  My case study today is one of the most inspiring young people I’ve ever learned about: 19-year-old Gitanjali Rao who’s a science enthusiast and an inventor and already invented her first science-b...

Even Jesus Cooked Too: Meals Are Spiritual Spaces Where Jesus Meets Us

Photo source: ChatGPT Craving a Favorite Meal There’s something deeply satisfying about watching your favorite meal being made. The anticipation builds as you imagine the aroma, the texture, the first bite. I’ve found myself craving a favorite dish so intensely that I traveled a distance just to enjoy it. But that craving—that hunger—is more than just physical. It’s a mirror of something spiritual, something eternal. I think about how Jesus, my Lord and Savior, also cooked. That’s still such a beautiful, humbling thought to me. Even Jesus Cooked Too Did you know that Jesus made breakfast for His disciples after His resurrection? John 21 tells us that when the disciples had gone back to fishing, Jesus stood on the shore. H...

What’s Eating You?

Photo source: Stockcake What Are You Eating? What's Eating You? A slow meditation for those who want to be nourished, not just inspired. Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about food —but not just the kind that fills your stomach, but the kind that fills your soul. My dad used to say something I’ll never forget: “You can use good food to cure sicknesses.” It was wisdom passed down—his parents believed it. My mom and her parents too. They all knew the power of nourishment. They believe that if you eat well, your body naturally gets to heal, strengthen, and thrive. They knew this well and they lived by it. And it got me thinking: But what if the same is true for your soul? What if some of the fear, shame, anxiety, or spiritual fatigue you're feeling aren’t just about sin or stress or burnout—but about what we’ve been feeding or not feeding on ? Or what we’ve been starving from ? Or worse… what’s been poisoning us ? I’m learning that you can tell a lot about your spir...
